Mindenképp dicséretes vállalkozás, hogy Meyerbeer monstrumát színpadra vitték különösen egy olyan időszakban, amikor sok Operaház inkább a "biztonságos repertoárt" választja. Ördög Róbert a maga öt felvonásával és bonyolult jeleneteivel igazán nehéz lehet ma sikeressé tenni. Sajnos sem zeneileg, sem énekhangilag nem volt egy elsöprő produkció. Talán Meyerbeer az a zeneszerző, aki a legköltségesebb. Pazar látvány, drága színpadi hatások, nagy kórusok, balett és a vokális részek, melyek igen nagy virtuozitást igényelnek. Maradandó jelenet a premieren az apácák kara, Lionel Hoche koreográfiájára. Bryan Hymel-nek ngy nagy hangja van a magasságok is jók voltak és azt lehet mondani, hogy izgalmasan énekelt, de szerdai előadáson (nem tudom miért) kevésnek bizonyult a Róbertként! Nem nagyon találta meg a módját annak, hogy elhelyezze magát a szerepében. Kétségkívül nem egy könnyű feladat. Marina Poplavskaya drámaian meggyőző, mint mindig, de következetlenül énekelt és ugyanannyira, amennyire drámai tud lenni, kb. mindig ugyanannyira unalmas is. Ciofi hangja szerintem kicsi és túlságosan fátyolos Isabelle szerepéhez. (Amúgy jó kritikát kapott!) Megmelíteném, hogy a három nappal premier előtt esett a választás a művésznőre. Szerepmegformálása és színészi játéka tetszetős volt, viszont hangilag nekem Ő kevés. Damrau, akit én most el tudok képzelni erre a szerepre. John Relyea Bertramként karizmatikus és parancsoló, szép teljesítményt nyújtott! Decemberben még háromszor tűzte műsorra az operát a Covent Garden az orosz szoprán Sofia Romina szereplésével. Persze akik szeretik Meyerbeer operáit ajánlott a darab megtekintése!
